A funeral plan can provide peace of mind for you and your family and could save you money. You choose the funeral you want and pay for our services included in the plan at today's prices, relieving your family of worries and uncertainty at a distressing time.

The price of funerals, like everything else, continues to rise year on year. That’s why it is more important than ever to be planning ahead and preparing for our future.

Taking out a funeral plan is a sensible and thoughtful way to protect yourself against these increases. More than a million people in the UK have taken out a funeral plan. We recommend funeral plans from Golden Charter, the UK’s largest provider of plans to independent funeral directors like us.

With a range of plans and flexible ways to pay, a Golden Charter Funeral Plan offers you exceptional value and choice. You can also tailor your plan to meet your personal wishes, from the service and type of coffin, to the music, flowers and readings. This way, your family will find great comfort knowing that your funeral will be carried out according to your wishes. Plus, to make it easier for you, we have included a Will within your funeral plan.

With a Golden Charter Funeral Plan you’ll benefit from:

  • Protection against rising costs
  • Reassurance for your family – less uncertainty and fewer difficult decisions
  • Flexible ways to pay
  • Included Will
  • The assurance that your local and independent funeral director will look after you when the time comes

A guarantee that covers all our services

No matter how much our services may rise in cost in years to come, once your plan is fully in place, neither you nor your loved ones will be asked for a penny more for them. It’s a guarantee that gives you peace of mind. You can be assured that your family will be spared what could be a financial worry.

There are some costs that we are obliged to pay on your behalf. These third party costs include the charges of cemeteries and crematoria, as well as the fees of clergy or officiants and the costs of newspaper notices and memorials. The amount of this expenditure is not within our control and may require a further payment at the time of need.

Protection against rising funeral costs

mintel graphBack in 2004, an average funeral cost around £1,920. However, recent research† shows the average cost of a funeral in the UK is now £3,609 - an increase of 88% in ten years, well above the general level of inflation. If this trend continues, the average cost of a funeral in 2024 will be over £6,800.

Paying in advance for your funeral is a sensible decision that will save money, benefiting your family or estate. We guarantee that, as long as your plan is paid for, there’ll be no more to pay for the services within our control.

A real alternative to saving

We believe a funeral plan offers a better option than saving for your funeral. In 2004, if you had put £1,920 (then the average cost of a funeral*) into a building society, you would have seen it grow to only £2,168.91** over the next 10 years.

However, with the average cost of a funeral now £3,609*, your family would have to find an additional £1440.09, at a very difficult time.
